If you see dry patches on your skin and have the stretchy feeling despite regular moisturising, it’s time to add glycerin in your skincare regimen. Glycerin is a dry-skin superhero that is often used in soaps, moisturisers, body lotions, face masks and other beauty products to add that extra boost of moisturisation. Here’s how to use glycerin for salvaging extra-dry skin
For instant moisturisation
Mix a tsp of glycerin in 2 tsp of water or rose water. Using a cotton ball, apply on the face specially targeting dry areas. Let it stay for 10 mins and wash off with lukewarm water. Follow with a moisturiser immediately.
In face pack
Prevent your face pack from drying out your skin completely by adding glycerintothe mix. Dissolve half a tsp of glycerin in 1 tsp of water and add in to the face mask mixture.
Boost your cold cream’s hydration by adding a few drops of glycerin, Take a coin size amount of cold cream in your palm and add 1-2 drops of glycerin into it. Mix well and apply the cream for long lasting suppleness.
Add to your body lotion’s efficiency by fortifying it with glycerin. Take 1 -2 tsp of glycerin dissolved in a few drops of water. Add this to your body lotion bottle, shake well and use as you would.
In lip balms
Add a few drops of glycerin in your lip balm jar for heavy duty hydration. You’ll get soft, supple lips in no time.
With honey
Take half a cup of honey and add to it 1 tsp of glycerin dissolved in 2-3 drops of water. Use as face mask or slather all over the body concentrating on elbows, knees and other rough areas for a delicious dose of moisturisation. Wash off after 15 mins.
Glycerin bath
After taking shower, add a tsp of glycerin in a mug of water. Use this as final rinse; do not wash with plain water after this. This will seal in moisturiser and you will experience silky soft and supple skin all day.
